Hello All,

Due to the rapid increase and unpredictability of the Covid-19 virus, we have decided to postpone $5 Movie Tuesdays! indefinitely.

This was an incredibly easy decision. Your, my and the community’s health and safety is of the upmost importance to us. Post pandemic, I assure we will reevaluate and return with something just as fun and engaging. Until then, practice social distancing when you can, wear masks often and always be mindful of others.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHICH AMC THEATER?

We go the AMC Regency which is located right outside Regency Mall.

WHEN AND WHAT MOVIE WILL WE GO SEE?

We try to go to the movies every Tuesday during the summer. During the school year, we will go when there is a movie that 3 or more of us wants to see. During the school year, we choose a showing between 5:45 - 7:30 p.m. to allow time for studying or homework afterwards or to finish up after school activities or programs beforehand.

WHEN DO WE BUY OUR TICKETS?

We decide on the time and then buy our tickets together. We buy together, so we can choose our seats together. We try to buy our tickets for the upcoming Tuesday the prior Wednesday or Friday for big movie premiers, like Marvel or DC movies, and that Saturday for all other movies. We use a group chat or app to communicate if not in person.

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A RIDE?

Since a large number of us are from the same leadership group, we will typically car pool, meeting in a central location, or meet up at the theater. Some of the students involved who have cars will also offer rides to the theater to students who attend the same school, after school program or activity as them as well. If we do carpool, our rides will pick us up after the movies at the theater or the original meeting place.

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY THIS WEEK?

Not all of us attend Movie Tuesday every week for a number of reasons. One of those reasons is finances. And that is perfectly okay. Budgeting is a great leadership skill to have. However, I do offer a limited amount of stipends each week to cover the cost of the movie tickets. Also, check out the opportunities page for more information on jobs and chances to earn extra cash.

WHO ALL CAN JOIN?

$5 movie Tuesdays are open to all AMC guests and at all AMC Theaters. We use it to decompress from a tough week or weekend or to reward ourselves. We go as a group to celebrate those glows or recognize those grows with new and old friends. However, even some of us will go with other groups of friends and family on Tuesdays that our group doesn't meet or there is not an interesting movie out.
