THE W.I.L.D. PROGRAM

Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens

The W.I.L.D. (Wildlife Immersion and Leadership Development) Program is Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens that employs teens between the ages of 14-18 to work as a part of the Education Department at the JZG. This is a year-round paid employment position focuses on leadership development, environmental literacy, and cultural representation. 

​

As a W.I.L.D. Steward, you will practice team building and leadership development through a range of projects and experiential learning opportunities like river kayaking and removing invasive plant species from our local beaches to staffing an educational table at an environmental festival and collaborating with other teen leaders around the nation.

GREEN TEAM

GroundWork Jacksonville

The Groundwork Jacksonville Green Team is a year-round program, broken into two programs/seasons: summer apprenticeship and school-year service-based fellowship.

The summer apprenticeship that offers stipend paid positions for high school students living in Jacksonville to help learn about and lead local environmental and healthy community initiatives, conduct research, raise awareness, challenge their peers to do community service, and participate in hands-on improvement projects throughout the City of Jacksonville.

FRESH FUTURES YOUTH PROGRAM

Fresh Ministries

Fresh Futures Youth Program serves both adjudicated and non-adjudicated youth in high risk settings through coordinated - yet specialized - programs designed to meet the unique needs of each cohort.

The Fresh Futures Youth Program is a year-long program for Duval County high-school students, providing training in financial literacy, college readiness, job readiness, academic enrichment, health and wellness, family involvement, cultural outings, and leadership and character development.

​

The program culminates with a summer internship experience for qualifying students. Students meet at least two Saturdays a month during the school year at the Weaver Center for Community Outreach.
